Visakhapatnam: Integrated Cargo Terminal Private Limited (ICTPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Orissa Steve-dores Limited (OSL), a reputed player in the logistics industry has achieved a major milestone by berthing its maiden vessel, mv KSL Fuyang, at its state-of-the-art facility at Visakhapatnam Port Authority.
The momentous event follows ICTPL’s recent award of a 30-year concession under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model by VPA on December 11, 2024. The terminal is located on the northern arm of the Inner Harbour. The award of concession is part of VPA board's decision to enhance its capacity by handling various types of dry bulk cargo.
VPA Chairman Dr M Angamuthu told Bizz Buzz that the terminal is designed to handle 5.18 MMTPA. The agreement included installation of two harbour mobile cranes with a capacity of 1200 tonnes per hour (TPH) and a lifting capacity of 100 tonnes each. The mechanisation en-visated at Rs.165.70 crore will include installation of mobile hoppers, stockpile augmenta-tion,dust suppression system, electrical works, STP works and various types of modern handling equipment. The terminal will a backup area of 2.5 acres for temporary cargo and a stackyard of 12.5 acres within two km from the berth.
ICTPL Director JK Nayak said that first the vessel was the first to be berthed to load 20,000 MT of rough granite blocks on behalf of Elite Shipping Agencies. The occasion was graced by the presence of senior officials from the Visakhapatnam Port Authority, reflecting the strong collabo-ration and support between ICTPL and the port authority.
